Want to start a Repair Café or Sharing Library in your Community?
Wouldn't it be fantastic if every community had a Repair Cafe and Library of Things? We provide free support and advice to any group or individual wanting to set up a Repair Cafe or Sharing Library
So far we've been visited by and provided support and guidance to Biggar Area Climate Care, Greener Berwick, Greener Duns and Coquetdale Climate Action to set up their own brilliant Repair Cafés and Tool Libraries!
Please email fixingforafuture@gmail.com if you'd like to arrange a visit to our Tool Library or see a Repair Cafe in action.
We'll be delighted to share what we've learned, including -
-
how to get started
-
challenges along the way
-
recruiting and keeping volunteers engaged
-
how to be part of the wider push for a circular economy
-
and lots more!
If you aren't already part of a group and are looking for Share and Repair projects near you, we thoroughly recommend checking out Circular Communities Scotland and all the great information they've gathered from members, particularly the Share and Repair Map.
Let's work together to make the *circular economy an everyday reality everywhere!
*The circular economy is a system where materials never become waste and nature is regenerated. In a circular economy, products and materials are kept in circulation through processes like maintenance, reuse, refurbishment, remanufacture, recycling, and composting. The circular economy tackles climate change and other global challenges, like biodiversity loss, waste, and pollution, by decoupling economic activity from the consumption of finite resources.
The circular economy is based on three principles, driven by design:
