Save old laptops, cut down on electronic waste, and help your community by volunteering as a Linux tech expert at our Repair Cafe!

Do you love open-source software and hate seeing good hardware go to waste?

We are looking for tech-savvy volunteers to join our team and help people switch their older laptops and PCs from outdated operating systems to Linux.

What You Will Do

Install Linux: Help visitors install user-friendly Linux distributions onto older computers.

Troubleshoot & Guide: Diagnose hardware and software compatibility, guide users through the new interface, and show them free software alternatives.

Reduce Waste: Prevent functional machines from ending up in landfills just because an operating system reached its end-of-life.

Empower Owners: Teach visitors to our Repair Cafe basic maintenance skills so they feel confident using and managing their revived hardware.

What We Need From You

Tech Skills: Good working knowledge of Linux installation and general computer troubleshooting.

People Skills: Patience, empathy, and clear communication to explain technical concepts to beginners.

Time Commitment: Availability one Saturday approximately every 2 months to join our Repair Cafe @ East Linton Community Hall, 10am-1pm plus planning and prep events with the team.
